About Berkshire Unicorns RFC

Founded in 2016, Berkshire Unicorns RFC is a rugby club where inclusion is he standard, not the exception. Regardless of your ability level, previous experience with rugby, sexuality or background you’ll find a home with BURFC. We aim to be bring together people in an environment built on respect, development and enjoyment to bring out the best of your rugby ability. And as members of the International Gay Rugby (IGR) community, we compete, travel and connect with inclusive clubs across the UK and internationally.

You don’t need to be LGBTQ+ to be part of BURFC — everyone who shares our

values of respect and inclusion is welcome.

What’s on offer?

  • BURFC trains twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 – 9:00pm) at Maidenhead RFC. Our coaches are on hand to provide you with all the information you need to hone your rugby skills – if you’ve never played before we’ll ensure we get you up and running in no-time!

  • From September to April, BURFC plays in the International Gay Rugby UK South League, playing against our sibling clubs across the south. Matches occur typically every 2-3 weeks, with additional playing opportunities at a number of friendly, inclusive tournaments.

  • From May until August, BURFC runs pre-season training sessions combined with touch rugby activities – we play regularly in International Gay Rugby Touch Events and in tournaments such as Touch My Brum

  • From post-training drinks to club trips and events, the community at BURFC is as important as the rugby. You’ll build friendships that last long after the final whistle.
